David A. Thomas practices litigation. He is a member of the Insurance Recovery Practice Group and the Appeals & Strategy Group.

Experience

Mr. Thomas has experience in litigation and counseling on behalf of policyholders across a broad range of insurance recovery matters. Mr. Thomas has litigated coverage under commercial general liability (CGL) and umbrella policies, directors and officers (D&O) liability policies, and first-party property and business interruption policies. Mr. Thomas has provided counseling to a client who incurred Hurricane Katrina-related property and business interruption losses. He has represented policyholders asserting consumer protection claims relating to sales of insurance products to the public.

Mr. Thomas also has a general commercial litigation practice. He has argued before the United States Court of Appeals and has been involved in appellate proceedings across the country.

From August to November of 2007, Mr. Thomas served a three-month appointment as an Assistant District Attorney for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. During his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Thomas tried five jury trials to verdict. Mr. Thomas also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Saundra Brown Armstrong, Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, from 2002 to 2003.
