Judith Miles joined the firm in 1991. She has served in various leadership roles throughout Heller Ehrman, including Managing Director of People and co-chair of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group.

Experience

Ms. Miles' practice encompasses a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including hotel transactions, joint ventures, financings, real property sales and acquisitions, leasing, and land use issues. She focuses particularly on the representation of hotel operators and owners in a variety of matters relating to the acquisition, development, financing, management and sale of hotel, resort and fractional ownership properties. Ms. Miles has also worked extensively in the area of real estate finance, including the structuring and negotiation of creative debt and equity financing transactions, and the workout and restructuring of troubled investments. She also has significant experience in negotiating and documenting purchase and sale transactions and commercial office and retail leases.

Ms. Miles has taught Real Estate Transactions as a member of the adjunct faculty of Stanford Law School. She has lectured frequently on hospitality industry topics and is consistently recognized as one of the leading hospitality lawyers in the United States. Both Ms. Miles and the firm’s hospitality practice are nationally ranked in band 1 for Leisure & Hospitality in the reference guide, 2007 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
