Sylwia Lis joined Heller Ehrman in 2007 and is a member of the Intellectual Property Transactions practice group.

Experience

Ms. Lis has represented and counseled foreign and domestic clients across a broad range of international trade issues and regulatory matters relating to cross-border transactions. Ms. Lis has extensive experience advising companies on U.S. laws relating to exports and reexports of commercial good and technology, defense trade controls, and economic sanctions, including licensing, regulatory interpretations, compliance programs, and enforcement matters.  Ms. Lis also has advised clients on national security reviews of foreign investment administered by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), including CFIUS-related due diligence, risk assessment, and representation before the CFIUS agencies. 

Prior to joining Heller Ehrman, Ms. Lis was a senior associate in the International Trade Department at a prominent Washington, D.C. law firm, where her practice also included international intellectual property matters, trade policy and dispute settlement under WTO and NAFTA, and investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
