Veterans' Rights

Heller Ehrman represented the National Association of Radiation Survivors, challenging as unconstitutional the fee limitations imposed by the federal government on attorneys representing veterans with health claims. That antiquated federal law allowed only $10 in fees for a lawyer representing a veteran to secure veterans' benefits, such as compensation for radiation injury stemming from service-related assignments. The firm also participated in a major federal court trial challenging this practice and in the subsequent appeals.
