Senior Citizen's Rights

In a case was referred to the firm by the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, San Diego’s Joanne Doughty, Heidi Gutierrez and Barry Tucker recently helped Mrs. Maria Guadalupe Ramirez, a 72-year-old homemaker, to navigate a difficult financial dispute and divorce.  During the divorce proceeding with Mrs. Ramirez’ husband of 52 years, one of their eight children intervened claiming a one-third interest in the family residence, the only significant community asset.  We conducted a series of depositions and full discovery followed by a settlement conference where a successful result was achieved with Mrs. Ramirez recovering 40 percent of the current market value of the home and a full resolution of the divorce case and a significant award of spousal support.
